Vivienne Westwood
For nearly 40 years, Vivienne Westwood has been creating clothes with the power to shock, amuse, and ultimately impress. Vivienne Westwood: A Retrospective, organized by the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A), London, will make the de Young its only U.S. stop and the final stop on its international tour. The exhibition, featuring more than 150 designs selected from the V&A’s collection and the designer’s personal archive, examines Westwood’s career from her first spark of notoriety as a controversial punk icon of the 1970s to her present-day perch as one of the most highly influential couture designers working today.
