Workshops

We offer hands-on workshops to our members from time-to-time. The nine story Education Tower in the de Young Museum allows us to offer such workshops in a congenial space, designed specifically for such activities. All workshops feature a textile-related theme such as how to hand spin cotton and wool, knitting socks, making paper beads and exotic braids.

Ethnic Textiles Study Group

The Ethnic Textiles Study Group of the Textile Arts Council meets once a month, usually on the fourth Saturday morning. At each meeting, a member of the group makes a one hour presentation focusing on a particular aspect of ethnic textiles. The talks reflect a personal collection or interest and are illustrated by photos, slides, or actual textiles. If you would like to learn more about the Ethnic Textiles Study Group and share your knowledge with others, please contact Serena Lee Harrigan or call the Textile Arts Council office at (415) 750-3627.
