Studio Visit: Judith Content

TAC members are invited to spend an intimate afternoon in the colorful world of Judith Content. Explore a home and garden filled with textiles, ceramics, sculpture and quirky collections too many to count. Judith will give us a tour of her textile studio and treat us to an arashi-shibori dye demonstration on silk. Visitors are encouraged to wander the garden. Light refreshments will be served.
Judith Content is a native New Englander who now calls Northern California home. She has long embraced the Asian design influences of her adopted Pacific Rim environment by exploring Japanese dye techniques, particularly arashi-shibori. Her dyed, pieced and quilted wall pieces have been widely exhibited, published and collected. She has work in the permanent collections of the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, the Museum of Art and Design NY and the San Jose Museum of Quilts and Textiles. She is president Emerita of SAQA (Studio Art Quilt Associates) and served on the Boards of TAC and the Palo Alto Art Center. Her love of color is expressed in her artwork, as well as in her exuberant gardens and multihued Palo Alto home. This September her house and artwork will be featured on the PBS show, Craft in America, episode: QUILTS. She is represented by Tansey Contemporary Gallery, Denver, where she will have a solo exhibition, EVANESCENCE, summer 2019.
