This summer, the Sebastopol Center for the Arts, along with co-sponsors Surface Design Association, is presenting the biennial International Fiber Arts Exhibition. Now in its 16th year, this juried show draws on the work of top fiber artists from around the world. Joy Stocksdale will be our guide for the exhibit, giving us unique insight into the world of contemporary fiber art. Joy is a textile artist, teacher, and author of Polychromatic Screen Printing with a studio in Sebastopol.
Also at the Center is an exhibit entitled Korean Voices in Fiber. We will also have the opportunity to tour this show.
International Fiber Arts Vlll at the Sebastopol Center for the Arts is a juried exhibition presenting a distinct approach to innovative and traditional fiber techniques, and a contemporary concept for the use of traditional and unusual materials. The chosen work invites the viewer to experience the many facets of fiber art. Showing at the same time is Korean Voices in Fiber highlighting the ancient heritage of fiber art in Korea as well as its vibrant modern transformation of both traditional and unexpected techniques and materials. This show is an opportunity to be introduced to a particular aspect of Korean artwork as part of our worldwide culture of textile arts.
Deadline to register is August 4th, 2017. For more information and to pre-register for this special member tour, contact tac@famsf.org or Shelley Wells at Shelleykwells@gmail.com.
